Do you suffer from varicose veins, swelling and skin discoloration, skin color and texture changes were even venous ulcers? If you do have any of these conditions, you might be suffering from something called: VENOUS REFLUX DISEASE. In a normal, healthy leg, veins contain valves that open and close to assist the return of blood back to the heart. Venous reflux disease develops when the valves that keep the blood flowing out of the legs and back to the heart become damaged or diseased. As a result, the veins involved will not close properly leading to different symptoms. These symptoms can express themselves in the form of varicose veins, leg pain, swollen limbs, leg heaviness and fatigue, skin changes, and even skin ulcers. He will often notice a protruding vein which is visible on the skin, especially the lower legs.
Many factors, we’ll contributed to the presence of venous reflux disease, among them are Age, Gender, Family History, heavy Lifting, Multiple Pregnancies, Obesity, and/or a job or profession, which requires standing or walking for long hours. Multicare Plus cardiologists use the VENEFIT™ procedure , to solve the problem of varicose veins which is performed on an outpatient basis. Using state-of-the-art ultrasound, our cardiologist will position the catheter into the diseased vein through a small opening in the skin. The tiny catheter powered by radiofrequency (RF) energy delivers heat to the vein walls. As this thermal energy is delivered, the vein will shrink and the vein is sealed and closed. Once the diseased vein is closed, blood will re-route itself to the adjacent healthy veins.
